The Nørre Alslev location as part of the strategy

RM Fintech A/S is based in Nørre Alslev on Falster, close to both manufacturing companies and infrastructure linking Zealand, Lolland-Falster and Germany. The location is not incidental. It gives access to a stable local workforce experienced in the metal industry, and it keeps the distance to our Danish customers short, whether they are based in the capital region, the Triangle Region or south of the border. A short distance means faster visits, faster sample parts and faster decisions when something in a production run needs to change along the way.

We see the location as part of the overall offer to the customer, not as a practical detail. A Danish address means the same time zone, the same language in technical discussions, and a legal framework the customer already knows. That reduces the uncertainty that can otherwise arise when critical components are produced far from the customer's own organisation, and it makes it easier to plan a collaboration meant to last several years.

At the same time, the company has grown organically over the years, as the machinery and workforce have expanded. That means buildings, production flow and storage facilities are laid out according to how we actually work today, not according to an original plan that has since been adapted repeatedly. It gives a production environment where parts, tooling and documentation move through the building without unnecessary detours.

We have been ISO 9001 certified since 2015, and the certification is not a plaque on the wall but a framework that governs how we receive orders, plan production, document processes and handle deviations. The system requires that we can show how a decision was reached, not only what the result was. That turns quality work into something that can be verified, rather than something resting on one employee's memory.

The management system covers both the technical processes in production and the administrative processes around order intake, quotation and document handling. When a customer asks to see our quality procedures as part of a supplier approval, we can present them in a structured way, and we are used to the type of audit that the medical, defence and aerospace industries in particular carry out at their subcontractors.

Quality work is embedded in daily operations, not confined to a separate quality section. Operators have access to the same drawings, inspection plans and process descriptions regardless of shift, and deviations are logged so they can be followed up systematically. That makes it possible to maintain the same quality level whether an order is produced during the day, at night or over a weekend on an unmanned setup.

A workforce that ties the machines together

With around 34 employees, RM Fintech A/S is large enough to have specialised functions in programming, setup, quality control and assembly, yet small enough for decisions to be made quickly without many layers. That is felt in day-to-day work with customers: a technical enquiry is handled by whoever actually has the answer, not passed through several levels before a reply can be given.

We invest continuously in training employees, both on new machines and on the software that controls them. The degree of automation in our production requires employees to understand the whole process, from material selection through programming to metrology, because an unmanned setup only works if it has been set up correctly from the start. That broad competence makes us less exposed to staffing fluctuations and gives customers a more robust supplier.

Experienced employees are also the company's memory of previous orders, materials and fixtures that have worked well. That knowledge is supplemented by written documentation, but the tacit experience of having run a given type of part before is a real competitive advantage when a customer returns with a variant of an earlier job and expects a quick, reliable start-up.

Investment in machinery as an ongoing process

Our machinery is developed continuously in line with customer requirements and technological progress in machining. Decisions on new machines are not taken in isolation, but based on an assessment of which part types and materials we expect to see more of, and how a new machine will interact with our existing automation, including bar magazines, robot cells and the FMS in the milling department.

We place weight on new machines being integrable into existing production planning, so an investment does not merely add isolated capacity but strengthens the whole flow from order intake to finished component. That means new machines are typically chosen so they can be served by the same type of automation we already have experience with, shortening commissioning time and reducing the risk in the transition.

Maintenance of the machinery is a high priority, because stable operation is a precondition for unmanned production. Planned maintenance is scheduled alongside orders, so machines are kept in the condition required to deliver the tolerance and surface quality customers expect throughout the machine's service life, not only when it is new.

Documentation as part of the delivery, RM Fintech A/S

Documentation as part of the delivery

For many of our customers, the component itself is only part of the delivery. The other part is the accompanying documentation: inspection reports, material certificates, process descriptions and, in some cases, traceability data back to the material batch a part is made from. We structure our internal systems so that documentation can be generated systematically, rather than assembled manually at the end of the process.

Documentation requirements vary considerably between industries. An automotive customer typically requests different data than a medical or defence customer, and we adapt the scope of documentation to each order rather than delivering a standard package that is either too thin or unnecessarily extensive. This is agreed as a fixed part of the quotation process, so there is no uncertainty about what accompanies the delivery when it arrives.

We retain production data and inspection results so an earlier delivery can be traced back if the customer later needs to document a part's history, for example in connection with a complaint or an audit at the customer's own customer. That kind of history is often hard to reconstruct if it is not collected continuously, so we build it into production from the start.

Flexibility between single units and large series

Many subcontractors specialise either in single units and prototypes or in large, automated series. We have chosen to keep both, because customer needs often move between the two forms over a product's lifetime. A part that starts as a single prototype can later become a standing series, and a standing series can in turn require a fast variant for testing or complaint handling.

That flexibility requires us to switch production between manually operated setups and fully automated setups without it becoming an administrative burden. Our planning accounts for both production forms simultaneously, so an urgent order for a single prototype can be accommodated without compromising delivery reliability on the standing series orders running in the background.

For the customer, this means they do not need to change supplier when a product moves from development to stable production. The same point of contact, the same drawing history and the same quality documentation follow the part throughout, saving time and reducing the risk of losing knowledge in a supplier change.

A long-term perspective on partnership

We see our customer relationships as long-term partnerships rather than individual orders. That affects how we price, how we advise on design, and how we prioritise when capacity is under pressure. A customer we have supplied for several years knows our processes, and we know their requirements, which makes new orders quicker to start and reduces the risk of misunderstandings about specifications.

The long-term perspective also means we are willing to invest time in understanding the customer's product and the conditions it must operate under, not just the individual drawing. That understanding enables better advice on material choice, tolerances and finishing, and makes it easier to respond sensibly if a design needs to change for reasons of production economics or material availability.

The collaboration often extends beyond production itself to joint planning of stock buffers, delivery rhythm and capacity reservation for seasonal fluctuations. That kind of arrangement requires trust built over time, and it is one reason we place a high priority on stability in our own organisation and machinery.
